Reviews of the books in the “Jayden & Friends” Series

We have thoroughly enjoyed reading Jayden and Chad’s wonderful experience with Princess Zora.

We are truly a royal priesthood and a chosen generation. Let’s continue to wear our CROWNS with great pride!

– Bishop George & Lady Mary Searight, Abundant Life Family Worship Church

I love this book and think every little kid should have it in their book collection, especially Black girls!

Zora’s Crown is much more than a story about hair. It is a story about redefining “beauty” through love, confidence, creativity, friendship, & heritage. I love how both Jayden and Chad didn’t tease Zora about her hair, but instead they had discussions with their parents about her crown. I give Zora’s parents a “hi-five” for teaching their daughter how to love and appreciate the uniqueness of her hair and not be defined by what others say. She knows her hair is her crown and no one can take that away. This book also reaffirms the C.R.O.W.N. Act that enables Black women to proudly wear their unique hair styles without fear of discrimination. This would also be a great book for schools so little Black girls aren’t bullied or punished for their hair. Well done Author Trevor D!

As a mother of girls with a crown and a Black woman with a crown, I love this story.

It is authentic, affirming, simple and empowering. I love that it is so lighthearted and sincere. Any girl or woman of any age can relate to this pride we have in our crown. I also love that the males in the story (Jayden, Chad, and Jayden’s Dad) were the people who made the connection about the royalty of Zora’s crown! AND the fact that the main character’s name is Zora makes the crown shine just a bit brighter! Well done, Trevor D!

5 Stars!

This book will make you smile! If you are looking for an interactive read aloud, filled with a strong theme, and incredible metaphors, this book is it. Children of all ages will be touched by the experience that is modeled in this book of friendship, care and understanding. Zora and her crown is going to teach the world about how to stand tall, be yourself and love the skin you are in and the hair on top of your head! What a wonderful addition to children’s bookshelves all over the world.

Jayden & Friends: Making Sense of Cents is a must read!

The adventures of Jayden and his best friends continue! When the group decides they want a basketball hoop to share outside of school, they don’t expect to have to pay for it themselves. In the end, the power of planning, hard work and teamwork prove that you can accomplish anything if you set goals for yourself.  Author Trevor D does an amazing job of detailing this story by presenting a problem and having the friends devise a solution. The valuable lesson of working hard for what you gain is taught in a way that even the youngest readers will understand. Teaching our children good financial habits at an early age is one of the most important things we can do. Jayden & Friends: Making Sense of Cents is a must read! Thank you Trevor D for sharing your brilliance with yet another wonderful book that keeps our little readers engaged!
